The Annunciation: on the right, the Virgin, nimbate, enthroned on a backless throne, on the left, the angel Gabriel, nimbate, advancing towards the Virgin, raising his right hand. Rev. CKЄΠOIC / ΠANAΓNЄ / KOMNHNH / ΘЄOΔⲰ/[PAN] ('All-pure maiden, may you protect Theodora Komnene') in five lines. Laurent, Bulles Métriques 353. Seibt/Zarnitz 3.1.7. Wassiliou-Seibt, Corpus 2149. A large and impressive seal belonging to a Komnenan princess. The obverse very rough and the reverse struck slightly off center, otherwise, fine.
